BIOGRAPHY
Dr David Bass has a special interest in children, emergency medicine and injury prevention. He was general surgeon and head of the paediatric trauma service at Cape Town’s Red Cross Hospital for 12 years and Director of the Child Accident Prevention Foundation for seven. Certified in the UK as an instructor in Advanced Paediatric Life Support, he has published widely on a variety of medical subjects, including children’s injuries and injury prevention. He currently works as a medico-legal advisor.

Maurice Kibel is Emeritus Professor of Child Health at the University of Cape Town. He practised as a consultant paediatrician in Zimbabwe and the USA for more than 20 years before setting up the Child Health Unit at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in 1979. He is author of more than 120 publications.
